term faculty appointments
We hire faculty into term appointments for a specified period of time for courses taught in the School of Health and Exercise Sciences. Sessional Lecturers teach and/or perform related duties, for a period of less than 12 months. Lecturers teach and perform related duties which may also include faculty administrative responsibilities. They are hired for a period of one, two or three years.

The School of Health and Exercise Sciences is looking for sessional instructors at UBC Okanagan Campus for the following course sections for Term 1 of the 2025-2026 academic year.

The expected compensation for a 3-credit course is $9559.11/period
HEAL 100 – Introduction to Principles of Health and Wellbeing – (3 Credits) Broad introduction to health studies as it applies to principles of health and wellbeing with particular emphasis on student health. A review of education and research on a variety of student health issues, and their larger impact, will be investigated and discussed.
HES 130 – Social Determinants of Health – (3 Credits) Examining the relationships between biological, psychological, social, and economic factors to understand inequities in health outcomes for different individuals and populations.
HES 201 – Exercise Prescription- (3 Credits) Exercise prescription and testing for both the healthy adult population and for special populations or persons with a disability.

STUDENTS
Each academic year, we have openings for Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) and possibly Undergraduate Teaching Assistants (UTAs) for courses in FCCS for the September and January terms. Individual faculty also offer Research Assistant positions for both graduate and undergraduate students. RAs are employment opportunities for qualified students offered by faculty members with research grants and contracts.
