Biography

I am the daughter of immigrants, primarily from Scotland, born and raised on Treaty 7 Territory, the home of the Blackfoot Confederacy, the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda and the Métis Nation of Alberta. I lived on Musqueam and Tsleil-Watuth territory while I was a student at UBC Vancouver and Douglas College for 10 years. I moved to Syilx territory (Vernon, BC) with my husband in 2018 and the two of us love to rescue dogs and cats, garden, and ride our bikes.

Responsibilities

I’m the Manager of Strategic and Academic Initiatives for the Faculty of Health & Social Development, which includes Nursing, Health & Exercise Sciences, and Social Work.

I help turn ideas into action. I support the creation of new programs, updating current ones, making sure everything runs more smoothly, and supporting the teams so they can focus on what they do best — teaching, mentoring, conducting research and serving the community. I’m also the go-to person when someone needs to know how things work behind the scenes.

As an uninvited settler on the syilx/Okanagan Nation's lands, I am dedicated to bringing forward the voices of our Host Nation and of Urban Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island, whom our graduates will serve, in my work. I am also an advocate for Accessibility and Disability Inclusion.
