“I grew up in Melbourne, Australia and have also lived in England and the United States. My future career aspiration is to complete a PhD and continue research in physiology and population health.

At UBC, I will conduct a scoping review of childhood trauma experienced in Indigenous, Métis, and First Nations Peoples in Canada, focusing on their increased risk of type two diabetes. My project is of importance as the BC government has previously reported the inequitable healthcare received by Indigenous, Métis, and First Nations Peoples in Canada in their report “in PLAIN sight” (2022). I want to create a preliminary piece of research that could then be utilized for further investigation and projects.”

To the Stober Foundation

“I would like to thank the Stober Foundation for providing me with an international opportunity to work with Dr. Mary Jung and the Diabetes Prevention Research Group (DPRG). This will be an invaluable experience to collaborate with researchers at UBC.”
